5 Tips to Maintain A Healthy Scalp For Both Men And Women

The scalp is a very important part of hair growth for both (For Both Men And Women). It is where the hair grows.  A healthy scalp is essential for hair growth.

The scalp can either be oily or dry. It is oily if your scalp feels heavier and looks oily at its root and dry if the hair that grows on it is rough, dry, and difficult to comb.

Women who wear afro hair are likely to battle with unhealthy scalps because they constantly moisturize their hair because of its texture. In this article, we will be looking at 5 tips that will help you maintain a healthy scalp.

5 easy to follow tips to maintain a healthy scalp.

  1. Wash your hair regularly but don't overdo it.

Wash your hair 2 to 3 times a week. If you over wash your hair the shampoo will remove the essential oil (Sebum) out of your scalp.

Women with an afro type of hair are most likely to use gels, hairspray to hold their hair in a place and this can cause build-up on the scalp and hair.

Use clarifying shampoo once a month to wash your hair. You can use  "NaturAll Club's Cleansing Avocado Shampoo."

If you are battling with an oily scalp it is recommended that you use a deep cleansing shampoo ( "Biosys Hair Scalp Care Shampoo or Neutrogena Anti-Residue Shampoo") and a more hydrating shampoo("Dove Derma Care Scalp Dryness & Itch Relief Anti Dandruff Shampoo") for dry scalp.

  1. Invest in deep conditioner

Make sure you condition your hair on your wash day. Whether you are dealing with an overly oily or dry scalp conditioning is a must.

For an oily scalp, you can use a lightweight conditioner like "Toppik Hair Building Conditioner." And a hydrating conditioner like "Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Moist Deep Conditioner" for an overly dry scalp.

  1. Moisturize with essential oils

Essential oils are beneficial to the scalp. These oils should be diluted before applied because they can be too powerful to apply as it is.Essential oils like tea tree, Basil, Jojoba oil, are known to work amazingly on the scalp.  If you don't want to use the essential oils directly you can look for products that contains them.

If you have an oily scalp the "Rosemary Jamaican Black Castor Oil" will do wonders on your scalp. For a dry scalp use "Txtr by Cantu Oil + Vitamins Scalp Saver."
